Up in the gym, working on my fitness

I'm finally getting back into the routine of working out and being healthy...which by the way is REALLY HARD TO DO IN COLLEGE. I only have so much food to choose from and I'm so busy with life that I have to workout at night but I'm finally starting to pull it off! Thankfully I have a good workout buddy; one of my college besties Amanda Germ. Thank goodness for her! She is like my own personal trainer. She even makes routines for us!:) Eating healthy is harder...our cafeteria doesn't always have the healthiest choices and they sure do have yummy desserts. But thankfully I've been sticking to the good food and staying healthy. I don't even really eat dessert anymore. That's pretty big for me...I have the BIGGEST SWEET TOOTH!

Something that is really helpful for me is Self Magazine or self.com. All Zeta Tau Alphas get the magazine for free so I've become hooked over the years. It has amazing work out tips, healthy food and just ideas for a healthy lifestyle. I love it! Check it out if you're interested:)

Halloween Horror Nights!

Last night I went to Halloween Horror Nights at Universal! I've been going for the last 4 years and it gets better and better every year. This year was the 20th anniversary and it was jam packed. We thought going on a thursday night would be better but it was still crazy. Thank goodness for express passes. They get you right into the houses! So if you don't know anything about HHN, it's basically a huge event at universal only going on at night. They have 8 haunted houses and 6 scare zones. It's incredible how detailed and scary they are! Each house has a specific theme and they're so much fun! Here's some pics (I didn't take them) and descriptions of the event!

Houses:

1. Catacombs: Black Death Rising
2.Hades: The Gates of Ruin
3. Horror Nights: The Hallow'd Past
4. Havoc: Dogs of War
5. Zombiegeddon
6. Legendary Truth: The Wyandot Estate
7.PsychoScareapy: Echos of Shadybrook
8. Orfanage: Ashes to Ashes

Fall break

I'm FINALLY on fall break! yes, I get A WHOLE WEEK OFF:) I'm so lucky that florida southern actually gives us a real break in the fall. It's nice to have some time at home with the fam since I'm never home.

On my way home today, I stopped by to see my dad at his office. He is the chief operating officer for the central florida boys and girls club! It's a really awesome non-profit organization. If you haven't heard of it, google it! His office is in downtown orlando so it's on my way home. After saying hello I finally made it home to mom and the kitty cats! Not only do I miss my parents but I sure do miss my cats! They are my babies:) Mom and I went to target later and bought them new beds....they are very happy girls!

Although I do have to study this week (bummer I know) I do plan on having some fun this week! We are planning a trip to Halloween Horror Nights sometime this week and I'm super excited. We go every year and it's always a blast! It's pretty funny to go with my family---dad walks through the haunted houses completely unfazed, mom screams like a middle school girl and I'm somewhere in between. Haha It's always fun with my fam:)

Love to all,
Shannon

Race for the Cure!

This past weekend, my sorority: Zeta Tau Alpha went to Race for the Cure! Since our philanthropy is breast cancer education and awareness we attend every year! I absolutely LOVE it and have become very passionate about being involved in the fight against breast cancer. We all left lakeland at 3:45 AM! That's right--no prissy sorority girls here--we're HARD CORE! It's so much fun and actually nice to drive on the highway when no one is out there. We went to the suncoast race for the cure in downtown st. petersburg at Vinoy park. It was GORGEOUS! What a perfect day too!

Here is a shot of my little sister Kayla, me, and one of our new girls Liza before the sun came up!

Even after the sun came up, it was a beautiful day!

We volunteered in different areas but our favorite part was the survivor walk. All the Zetas got to line up on the course and hand them roses:)

What an AMAZING DAY!

These women are truly inspirational! If you don't know much about breast cancer or the Susan G. Komen foundation....check out their website:) www.komen.org

WELCOME to my blog:) I'm not exactly sure what made me want to start it but here it is. I love writing things down about my life adventures and sharing them with friends and family so that's what I'm doing. I'm adding fun things along the way so enjoy and read away.
